Does playing sport video games lead to increased viewing on that sport?

If anyone knows this, do you know how I may be able to find appropriate sources or statisitics?

i would answer yes, everytime i play a sport video game i get more into that sport. it you need stats collect all the yes and no answers from here and let that be your arguing data

    i could not tell you… but i would say they will be out there, but not easily assessable, as companys would pay big to compile the info in the first place..

    yes and no you bought the game cuz you like the sport. i know i bought my nhl 2009 cuz im a hockey finatic but, it depends on your perception of the sport

    i would say that its a little bit of both. Either the excitement of watching a certain sport or a perticular game drives you to want to recreate that game and that moment in the video game. As far as the video game i would say playing it before a game comes on actually makes you want to watch that game that is if you are aware of the game.
