Why are there only Sport Utility Vehicles and Sport Utility Trucks? Why are there no Sport Utility Cars?

Crossovers, Sport Utility Vehicles, and Sport Utility Trucks. (There are probably other sport-utility-type vehicles out there as well.)

BUT WHY DO I NEVER HEAR OF SPORT-UTILITY CARS?

The Subaru Outback is a sport utility car. So is the Audi Allroad.

A crossover is a sport utility car. Some manufacturers call these cars "cross country" (Volvo for example). They aren’t called that because if you use the shorthand version it’s an SUC. No manufacturer uses that term because it invites negative thinking against the car. It’s the same sort of thought process from the past when people teased others who owned cars that were painted yellow by calling them lemons.
Think about it…would you want to drive an SUC and have people saying your car sucks? Or would you rather drive the same thing but call it a crossover or cross country?
