What brand of sport shoes (and probably clothes) has as a symbol 2 people sitting back to back?

Friday, October 16th, 2009

it could be a man and a woman, sitting down, leaning back to back…. Let me know, please! Thank you!
Thank you, you’ve all been helpful, but unfortunately i can only pick one best answer, so i think it’s fair that the first correct one gets the points.

A Rock Climber Gear List

Friday, October 16th, 2009

Without supervision and guidance, rock climbing can be a very dangerous sport. It requires a variety of equipment and gear, which are created to ensure safety. By learning, how to use the gear efficiently, a Rock Climber can protect him from injuries.

Climbing Ropes

A Single Rope- The most common rope used in rock climbing is the single rope, which can be used in a variety of techniques and routes. The single rope is popular among climbers for its simplicity, even though the maximum abseil achieved is half of the actual original rope length.

Twin Ropes- These ropes are used together as a single rope. The twin ropes aid during shock loading and thus suited for alpine climbing or routes where free falling is inevitable. By tying the twin ropes together, a full rope length abseil can be employed. The system is not as safe as the double Rope System, though the durability is the same.

Double Ropes- A double rope is extremely strong and durable and needs to be used in pairs. In a double rope, both the ropes are tied to each other and the entire rope is used in abseil.

Harnesses:

To add to the safety factor during rock climbing, a variety of climbing harnesses have been made available. Each of these harnesses is unique and created to aid both; amateur and professional climbers. Given below are different types of harnesses:

A Sit Harness- A sitting harness is often used to avoid the full body harness. The harness aids climbers, suffering from spinal chord or vertigo. It consists of a leg loops, waist belt and is worn around the hips. This type of climbing harness provides comfort for movement.

Chest Harnesses- The harness is used in avoiding injuries of the back, as it helps in climbing or descending with a heavy pack. It is advisable to use the chest harness and the sit harness together as it prevents inversion of the body.

Full-body Harnesses- A Full-body Harness is a readymade combination of the Chest-and-Sit Harness. The harness was specifically created to aid young climbers as well as adults with frail figure.

Climbing Shoes

Climbing shoes help rock climbers in enhancing their performance and in the application of technique. A variety of climbing shoes are available in the market that offers the climber control and safety. Given below are different types of footwear used in rock climbing:

The climbing shoes for ‘Edging Rock’- These types of climbing shoes have supportive coverings and shock absorbing material inside the shoe to avoid feeling sharp ‘edges’ or angular rock faces. These shoes are made stiff to assist mature climbers on mastering climbing techniques. These shoes possess an inner lining that protects the leg muscles, stops lactic acid formation in calves.

The Smearer Rock Climbing Shoes- A smeared shoes has a more modern make, offering flexibility and grip to the climber. These shoes are made for professional athletes that do not need assistance while climbing, thus accounting for the rounded edges on the shoes.

Climbing Slippers- A climbing slipper can grip overhanging rock faces, smaller holds and cracks. Made for strong feet and offers lesser protection internally.

Picking the Right Running Shoe

Wednesday, October 14th, 2009

There is no doubt about it, with the amazing variety and the availability of current running shoes at the moment choosing the right running shoe (and if you don’t know what you doing) can be a daunting task.

If all you are wishing to do is buy something trendy and that looks good then the problem isn’t so great. However if you need the correct pair of shoes for serious sport then you have to view the whole process differently.

If you are buying shoes for serious purposes then there are certain basic criteria with which it will help if you knew about.

Firstly you have to understand that if you are road running then depending on how your foot strikes the ground this affects your susceptibility to injury. This also determines the shoe type that you should choose. Gone are the days of one-size-fits-all. All sorts of different shoes are designed for specific foot strikes.

Having established therefeor that your foot strike is a central part of the right technique and to match it is essential that you get the right shoe. How do you match your foot strike to the right shoe?

Another important aspect of running shoes is understanding exactly what is shoe cushioning.

Lastly you have to decide do you need a performance shoe, racing shoes or a trail shoe and how you correctly match your body frame size in relation to shoe selection.

It’s a bit more complicated than just getting big shoes for big feet.

Choosing properly running shoe shoes as they say, starts with a discussion of how your feet move when they are in contact with the ground or what is called the foot strike.

If you choose shoes that encourage your feet to maintain a neutral position from impact through to push off you are likely to increase the risk of running related injuries. It makes sense really to try and allow some sort of footwear that is going to hopefully mimic the natural movement offyour feet in relation to the ground.

Conversely if you happen to have shoes that allow your feet to roll excessively inwardly or outwardly then you are likely to increase the likelihood of injury. This last point is essential in fact it is very easy to keep shoes for longer than you actually should do, because you are fond of them. This is not meant in the sense of falling in love with them for the fact that shoes are old and comfortable and on the surface feel good.

If the side supports of the shoe are too loose and the heel too worn then the end product is that your foot is going to move within the shoe and you are going to injure yourself sooner rather than later.

As has been mentioned before, the goal and the target when you’re choosing the correct running shoe for you is to find the right shoe that encourages your feet to maintain a neutral position throughout the entire cycle from touchdown to push off.

Shoe Shopping On The Internet

Monday, October 12th, 2009

Shoe shopping may just be the one type of shopping where the Internet does not offer the most convenience. The obvious reason is that shoes must be tried on and even if your size is consistent, it may change in different brands, and each style of shoe is a bit different. There can be up to an entire size difference in styles that have high heels or pointed toes. Shoes must fit well, not just for comfort and appearance but also for foot and joint health. Cramped tootsies have an effect throughout the leg and back and can even result in neck pain and headache. And, of course unlike the to die for designer bargain dress, shoes cannot be altered by a skilled tailor. You’ve got to get the fit right the first time. Still, the convenience of online shopping is available to those shopping for shoes and there are number of attractive sources for every type of shoe on the Internet.

Whether you are looking for fashion, work or sport shoes there is someone who sells it all, and sometimes at great prices. It is important for you to make certain that the retailer will accept returns for full refund or exchange, or you may find yourself stuck with unbearable shoes that are the wrong size. And when shopping for shoes on the Internet, you must be prepared to have the time to ship your purchases back. It may even be a good strategy to by several sizes of the same shoe at one time to be certain that you will receive a good fitting pair, and then return the others. Not all retailers are open to these kinds of orders, so check first.

Nextag is one good source for all kinds of shoes online, and both men’s and women’s styles. You can find every kind of athletic shoe, from tennis to golf and all kinds in-between here and sizes out of the usual range. They handle children’s sixes and advise that for youth sizes 13c to 5, the shoe should be bought one size larger for proper fit. This retailer knows the problem of proper fit and is prepared to accept returns. Calibex and shop both stock large selections of shoes for men, women and children.

Nordstrom, is known for its semi annual shoe sales, offers its huge selection of quality designer shoes and its famous shoe sale to the Internet. Nordstrom will always offer a great selection of designs you can find other places but twice a year it offers the same no holds barred, all shoes up to 50% off sale that is popular in its retail stores. Look here for Nichols and Etienne Anger from Italy and Arche shoes from France.

The shoe shopper has access to an unlimited number of online retailers over the Internet and just has to enter the type of shoe in his or more likely, her, browser to pull up all the available retailers. Visa MasterCard and store credit cards are all accepted forms of payment.
