Why are there only Sport Utility Vehicles and Sport Utility Trucks? Why are there no Sport Utility Cars?

BUT WHY DO I NEVER HEAR OF SPORT-UTILITY CARS?

Are there any fast sport cars like the Lotus, Porche, Lambo, Ferrari, maserati that is automatic transmission?

Friday, October 16th, 2009

I want to get a fast sportscar but dont want to deal with the manual transmission. Is the Sl55 AMG the only way to go, to get a fast automatic sportscar/convertable?

A sports car will have a manual transmission.

If it has an automatic transmission – it’s not a sports car!!!!

who knows anything about sport cars?

Friday, October 16th, 2009

ok i dont know anything about sports cars so i have a quick question. someone told me that all the new sports cars (like the recent years) are fake, meaning they dont go as fast as the old ones do. and if i wanted a sports car thats new i’d have to get it and fix up or switch the engine to make it go seriously fast. is that true?

The new sportcars are more tame than older ones! For example mclaren proved that hitting 240 mph was possible 16 years ago, but still they dont make the current super cars go that fast! I mean they have the technology, its just something that holds them back! Go old school if you want some good old fun and excitement!

Daewoo Cars

Friday, October 16th, 2009

Now settling properly into its world role as a General Motors budget brand, Daewoo is entering a period of sustained growth, with new models gradually coming into production. Having learnt from the excellent little Matiz that the combination of smart European bodyand chassis design with emerging country levelsof build costs lead to high value for all. Daewoo has moved into next phase with the Kalos and Lacetti models. This will be followed by further new models (with the Nubira sedan replacement looking ever-more urgent) over the next couple of years, as the brand benefits from increased development and research resources provided by its parent group. General motors recently announced that Daewoo’s technical center in Korea will have an ever-bigger role in the GM family, and that they are looking for a ‘halo car’ that will gain Daewoo global approval, much as the MX-5 has achieved for Mazda. So expect interesting things from Daewoo in future. LACETTI Styled by Giorgetto Giugiaro at Italdesign, the Lacetti has an athletic look that moves Daewoo forward in terms of visual appeal, and backs this up with a similarly European package of power train and suspension systems. The result is a car that is far closer to in feel and character to cars built in Saarlouis tha n those we are used to getting from Seoul. Engine choice is 1.4 or 1.6 petrol units (with a 1.8 due soon, but no diesel variant yet, apparently) and acceleration is about what you’d expect in this class. High levels of trim and equipment, clean handling and a satisfyingly solid built quality add up to excellent value. Look up for sport variant- it is great fun to drive. MATIZ Daewoo began its corporate redefinition with this excellent little city car, a full four seater with peppy engine (either a three cylinder 800cc or a four cylinder 1.0litre) and a five speed transmission. Handling is good, and allows the driver to make the most of city driving conditions. Equipment levels are high (although using the air condition similar-engine model dulls acceleration by a marked amount) and the car is wonderfully frugal, even when made to work hard. Owner loyalty levels are very high, which speaks volumes for the car’s success for Daewoo. TACUMA Daewoo’s contender in the fiercely-contested multipurpose vehicle sector has recently gained a fresh new look which aligns the model more closely with its newer stable mates; the clumsy rifle so the old model is now gone to the great relief of taste police. In the terms of packaging the Tacuma is typically Daewoo; lots of bits that many manufacturers’ charges extra for come as standard. As there is a good spread of engine and transmission options that offer something for the most potential buyers of Daewoo. The interior packaging is clever and versatile-and certainly a match for other similar vehicles-but the major advantage the car has over many rivals is the Daewoo ownership experience; fixed running make for happy drivers.

Drivers Want Quiet Cars

Wednesday, October 14th, 2009

American car buyers have always been known for their preference for high performance vehicles. Aside from offering the essentials, their vehicle of choice needs to have at least a small degree of luxuriousness. Luxury aside, car buyers also opt for high performance vehicles which come with a responsive handling and very comfortable seats.

Recently though, the American International Automobile Dealers Association (AIADA) reported that car buyers are now changing their preferences and are also looking for another special attribute that a vehicle should possess. The association reported that drivers are becoming more and more enamored with silent cars.

The Wall Street Journal reported that the main cause of a vehicle’s noise is its age. As a vehicle ages, just like humans, it exhibits flaws which may even result to car breakdowns. The international daily newspaper cited that the worst cause of noise in vehicles is wind. This actually refers to that sound that is produced when the wind flows over the outline of the vehicle.

This is why car makers are looking to decrease the coefficient of drag of their vehicles. Lowering the coefficient of drag not only gives the car a good appearance but it also increases the top speed and lowers the amount of noise produced by the wind flowing over the vehicle.

The noise as the car ages has always been one of the problems of automobiles. Car manufacturers are already taking steps to address the problem. Some of the players in the auto industry that has taken steps to combat wind noise are General Motors, Hyundai, and Ford. These car companies are developing new materials to user on their vehicles to reduce the noise reaching the interior of the vehicle.

Aside from using new materials, these companies are also working out new manufacturing techniques to further improve noise reduction. Noise control engineers are also being employed by these companies to oversee the development of quiet cars.

Hyundai, the biggest Korean car maker, is using electronically controlled adjustable engine mounts in the new Veracruz sport utility vehicle. Aside from the adjustable motor mount which is as tough as a Volvo rotor, the Korean brand also integrated extra thick lightweight foam insulations on the said SUV. The insulation reduces the amount of noise coming from the engine bay that goes right into the vehicle’s cockpit.

These improvements on newer models of vehicle close the gap between luxury and non-luxury vehicles. As the cost of production of materials used in noise reduction go lower, more and more vehicles will become quieter. This shows that the auto industry is always tuned to what their consumers want. It is common that motorists associate the absence of noise inside a cockpit to overall quality and the new vehicles being manufactured by car makers are blurring the distinction between a luxury and non-luxury vehicle. This, of course, will serve to benefit the consumers.

Does it cost alot to maintain older sport cars?

Monday, October 12th, 2009

HI! i will be buying a first car soon, i want something either powerful or new and nice, latest models cost a bit alot, so older sportcars are the answer for me i think.
i was looking into like toyota supra if i come by one, or a 3000gt.
but how much does it cost to maintain them? like if something brakes down can i go to the car shop and have it fixed? or they dont carry parts for them so its going to be hard and expensive?
thanks!

Neither one of those are sports cars and they are very expensive and difficult to maintain and repair as parts are hard to come by and are expensive.

If you want a real older sports car that is cost effective, get a 87-93 Ford Mustang GT. Stock they have 225 hp and 275 ft/lbs of torque. You can get a clean one for about $5000. Spend about $3000 in upgrades and you will have an $8000 car that makes over 300hp and 325 ft/lbs of torque that will destroy any of the other two cars. It is also much cheaper and easier to repair and maintain a Stang. No vehicle ever made has more performance parts support than the Mustang, It is also cheaper to get power out of the Mustang than the other cars you mentioned.
